about
I wrote Starseed while coping with the passing of my mother and trying to makes sense of it all. My hope is that it brings many people who have experienced loss a sense of comfort; by feeling understood and connected, through this shared pain. Dealing with this grief was the most overwhelming experience of my life. The intensity has faded, but the pain of missing will never disappear. Still, I have found there is a beauty in this missing, which filmmaker Jonathan Bleeker and I wanted to capture in the music video (find it here: www.youtube.com/vayymusic ). Not because everything needs to be ‘positive’ nowadays, no. It’s because the enormous gap that is left when we lose someone, is a representation of how big our love for that person is:
The greater the love, the bigger the gap, the larger the grief. This beautiful grief — a gaping hole, created by immeasurable love.
lyrics
where did you go?
somewhere only the stars know
where could it be?
all I know is you're not with me
you fly up high
I hope
you're back again
starseed
I wish I believed
in heaven or something
now I don't know
if you've become nothing
you fly up high
I hope
you have returned
starseed
you fly up high
I hope
you have returned
starseed
